Despite unknowingly crossing paths at many points throughout their lives, Nina and Ryan finally found each other at the Broken Shaker in downtown Chicago after 25 years. They went on several dates throughout the city to get to know each other, but there was a small hiccup. Nina was soon leaving for a long adventure many miles away in Colombia, where she would be seeing family and diving in the remote jungles of El Choco. However, Ryan wasn’t about to let the distance stop what was about to be an even greater adventure – his and her story. Several visits and several satellite telephone calls later, Nina and Ryan fell in love.
